Guaranteed Recovery?

I just saw a commercial on television guaranteeing recovery, if you complete their 90 day program. If you relapse they will give you another 30 days free.

Our Brand Promise
If you successfully complete our 90-day program, we guarantee you’ll stay clean and sober, or you can return for a complimentary 30-days of treatment.

I wonder exactly what kind of addiction treatment these guys are offering.

It's official: AA is the only way to stay sober!

Rev. Ward Ewing, Class A (nonalcoholic) Trustee and Chairperson of the General Service Board of A.A. says that A.A. is the only way to achieve long term sobriety. Speaking at A.A.'s 2012 Pacific Regional Forum, Rev. Ewing stated the following:
"The spiritual program of A.A. is the only program that provides long-term sobriety." and
"We have a powerful spiritual program that works - the only program that truly works for long-term sobriety." and
"This is the only way that has ever worked effectively over the long term."

AA not for everyone

Excellent critique on AA and it's abusive methods in the UK independent.

Opiate addicts

"Opiate addicts, in particular, are hyper-sensitive to pain after quitting their drug habit."

Orange says that here:
http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-letters220.html

I was an opiate addict and did not endure this. I'm not technically sure, but I think that the same receptors are in conjunction with emotional pain, which I did suffer from. I had an ongoing inability to feel happiness. In other words, I was consistently depressed.

Ann Fletcher on public radio

Maby there is a small slackening of the stranglehold AA has on addiction information. Ann Fletcher was on the Dianne Rhem show on public radio. Though she was careful not to critize AA she atleast promoted alternatives. Did anybody else hear it? Any thoughts?

Had to share this here as well as I did at Expose AA:

"There was a Sister in the hospital, a veritable Saint, if you ever saw one. Our beloved Sister Ignatia. Dr. Bob often mentioned her. He told how she would deny beds to people with broken legs in order to stick drunks in them. She loved drunks. She was a sort of female Silkworth, if you know what I mean." ~Bill Wilson

If you know what I mean.

This time she gets a new judge, has her bail and bond reduced, looks like she is off to stay her mums and is likely to have a case thrown out as she has passed her drug dependency course ?

When the Minnesota State Senate started with a prayer to Alcoholics Anonymous on Monday February 4, 2013

Here is what Rev. Lamberton said Monday, as the Senate's chaplain for the day:

For a growing number of people, the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous have become more than suggestions. Along with regular attendance at 12 Step meetings in relationship with other recovering people, they become a way of living—sober—one day at a time.

At a 12 Step meeting not long ago a newcomer talked about how shocking sobriety is after many years of active addiction.
