Alcoholics Anonymous claims that you can chose anything you want as a "Higher Power" to pray too for a miracle. The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 American fantasy adventure film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer at the same time the delusional Bill Wilson was building his cult called Alcoholics Anonymous to pay him more than 5 times what the average person made at that time. The Wizard of OZ can perform miracles such as giving a straw man a brain, a tin man a heart and a lion courage, much like Alcoholics Anonymous claims it can do by having people recite two sets of 12 statements and praying for a miracle. What if instead of the 12 Steps, Wilson told people to follow the yellow brick road instead? What if Bill Wilson had hijacked "We're off to see the Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" instead of the serenity prayer and had people pray to the Wizard of OZ instead of a god of your choosing (which everyone knows is the Christian god, but they have been brainwashed to deny it)? Would the same results be produced? Both fantasies, Alcoholics Anonymous and the Wizard of OZ were produced at the same time.....

To answer the question "Would it do the same thing?"
Yes, it would do the same thing JR., that same thing being nothing. (AA doesn't work, therefore going to see Frank Morgan would not help with boozing)!

2012 Library of Congress Lists Books That Shaped America
In 2012 the Library of Congress Listed the Books That Shaped America, among them were "Alcoholics Anonymous" by Anonymous (1939) and "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum (1900). If the Library of Congress can list "The Wonderful Wizard of OZ" as having the same impact as the fantasy book of "Alcoholics Anonymous" there should be no reason why the Wizard of OZ can not be considered a god of your own choosing to be prayed too for a miracle.

Time Magazine names Bill Wilson, Bart Simpson and Adolf Hitler
Time Magazine names Bill Wilson, Bart Simpson and Adolf Hitler as the most influential people of the 20th Century in its Monday, June 14, 1999 issue. Given that Bill Wilson, Bart Simpson and Adolf Hitler are named as having the same honor, can these be used as a Higher Power? All three have been published in print and film.
Other people that made the same list of the TIME 100 Persons Of The Century that AA members are so proud of include:
Fidel Castro
Ho Chi Minh
Joseph Stalin
Mao Zedong
Charlie Chaplin

It only occurred to me recently that people in organizations that try to propagate ideas might pander to popular language and symbolism with only lip service. We can all say we believe in anything we want but, is it true and how much do we know about it?
I think, in part, some basic logic would help us be more discerning but, sometimes being totally serious and on point is boring. Let's face it, it can be fun and profitable to be sophomoric. We don't all know that though.
