Had a productive meeting today

Just got through another meeting. Here is what I worked on:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4s0nzsU1Wg

To the tune of "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr. ~

The stepper man says you better walk the line
And go to lots of meetings if you wanna stay dry
Gods the only way, so you best hit your knees
"Cause you're gonna get drunk
if you do what you please

I post on the Orange Papers you see
With J.R. Harris, all my friends, and me
I got a Big Book blaster and an internet line
And a thinking man can survive
thinking folks can survive

I can surf the site all meeting long
I can bust Billshit from dusk till dawn
We run our own program and our own lives too
Ain’t too many lies that we can't see through
We post in the roomz and we get our slips signed
And a thinking man can survive
A thinking man can survive

Because you can’t take our wills
and you can't wash our brains
Cuz we're free thinkers and we're not insane
we don't chant and we don't pray
And if you ain’t into that you best go away

We came from the West Portland coastlines
The Montana Mountains and the eastern seas
And we can skin a troll; we can beat the hive
And a thinking man can survive
Thinking folks can survive

I had a good friend who I lost last summer
He never called me by my name, just newcomer
My instincts taught me how to write my own story
Clancy taught him to take inventory
He used to send me scriptures on how to think and feel
And I’d send him some Stanton Peele

But he was sponsored by a man with an anti-med stance
To be spiritual my friend took a chance
I'd love to burn the Big Book in that dude's eyes
And tell him where he can shove Step Five
Cause a thinking man can survive
Thinking folks can survive

Because you can’t take our wills
and you can't wash our brains
Cuz we're free thinkers and we're not insane
we don't chant and we don't pray
And if you ain’t into that you best go away

We've got Massive California and Kansas Live Free
And thinking friends who post for all to see
And we can skin a troll we can run a web-line
And a thinking man can survive
Thinking folks can survive

Now that's what I would call a good meeting!

"If I forget who I am, I am myself. If I remember who I am, I am you."

That's great. Hey, LFOD, where in Kansas? Wichita, Great Bend, and Overand Park...

Remember Christopher Stevens when you vote.

is where I live free, or die.

Why? Are you prospect hunting or simply gonna do some stalking?

I never stalked anyone, LFOD. I simply went on a previously planned vacation. I wish that woman could point to one thing I did to her other than show interest in a meeting she would like ended. I don't think that meets the definition of stalking.

I lived in Overland Park during my junior high years. The Oak Park Mall was being built when we left.

It was packed yesterday, parking lot was full and push ups all around. I was picking up a pair of shoes I had dropped off at Nordstrom's to be shined.

Barnes & Noble built an add on at the mall, I spend alot of time there, in case you're interested.

Which middle school did you attend? btw, they don't call jr highs jr high here, they are called middle schools.

Perhaps now they are called that, but back in the day, it was HIllcrest Junior High. We were the Highlanders, and I walked through that site every day to get to school. It wasn't open yet before we left. There was a local kidnapping, Elizabeth Wilson. They recently convicted her killer. He was a school janitor that used choroform on her.

What did the killer get for a sentence?

"Tradition 10 - Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the AA name ought never be drawn into public controversy." Please follow orders from the Interchurch Center if you are an AA member and don't comment.

Hillcrest Junior High is now Westridge Middle School.

CLar, if you' all moved away before the Oak Park Mall was opened, that would make you around 52 years young.

That's about right, LFOD. Is Rosehill Elementary still called that? It was across Quivera Road in Lenexa.

Outstanding. Simply outstanding.

PennyW, do you, by chance, have a Grammy for song writing? : )

Because you can’t take our wills

A thinking man can survive

and..........we will live free .........or die.

That's a great adaptation of Hank JR's tune. It sure fits. Here's another one we can dedicate to Bill W- LI Started A Joke"

I suppose you could with twisted irony. Maurice Gibb had 25 years in AA when he died in, what, 2003?

The home of the Rockets is still here CLar. Are you an alumnus of Rosehill? How long did you live in Overland Park?

You know it was named one of the best cities in the US recently.

Until recently I owned a home in the Cedars subdivision in Lenexa. It was right across from 87th Street Parkway and the Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park.
