If AA isn't religious...

why do they always talk about God?

Are you saying that the answer is obvious?

AA is a religious cult dressed up to look like a treatment for alcoholism.

Yes.

I was watching "Cool Hand Luke" the other day where in the movie, the inmates at the work farm were treated very badly if they didn't "Have Their Mind Right." Cults seem to do the same thing.

So do parents. So do teachers. So do bosses. So do spouses. So do siblings.

So what?

Still doesn't make abuse of another human being OK !

"Abuse"? Please describe these abusive practices. And what the hell is wrong with fighting back?

Sponsors who spill out secrets confided to them by their sponsees (for starters). A sponsor that I used to have who called me up every day to "check in with me" almost everytime talked about personal issues of other people he sponsored !!! He would call me up, have me start talking about something, say he would call me right back before I had a chance to finish talking about what I was talking about and never call back. Only after calling back to get voice messages many times would he finally answer !! He even talked to others about me as well ! That's abuse in my book (but maybe not in your book, who knows ?!) !!! Then there are control freaks. They don't like the idea of people having their own form of spirituality, political opinions, etc. They get mad at you if your OPINIONS are different from theirs. Some of them even preach that if you don't "follow God" in the way they insist, you will be a fallen soul. The list goes on and on. The whole thing is just bad psychology done by bad company !
"And what the hell is wrong with fighting back ?" NOTHING :) !!!!!! LOL :) !!!!! We SHOULD fight back and we SHOULD get angry at all of this abuse done by "steppers" and program "players!" And that's exactly what we are doing ! Fighting back at the trolls who even try to control what goes on here ! Anger (if used CONSTRUCTIVELY) can be a very good thing and is NOT ALWAYS a character defect. Yes, I do take other peoples inventories !!! LOL!

So this is about you and your grudge? I see.

Are you saying that parents, teachers, bosses, spouses and siblings abuse others?

So judge, if a teacher, spouse, boss, parent, or a sibling abusers the abusee, is there any legal recourse for the abusee?

rather than a religion, why do the followers go to the point of stalking, lying about their history and theology, and continue to cover up the real damages this religion causes people.

We continue to see daily, what depths the followers of this faith will go to here, in their indefesible defense of this cult. Every day we see the apologist trolls continue to be deceptive in reaction to sincere questions and charges to the tremedous downfalls of AA.

It is so bad that we know the reactions before reading the threads. This doesnt happen in my group. I have never seen that. It just doesnt happen. We have an axe to grind. Did someone say something to us, because they do not speak for AA. Apparently the Midtown Q Group simply did not happen.

Systematically there are bigger issues. I have real problems with people being sentenced by a court of law to anything where nobody is allegedly in charge. The rarely observed traditions, though read at every meeting, are a convenient excuse, as is the claimed lack of leadership. We should also add the social and pyschological systems that routinely DUMP people into AA, knowing full well that many of them do not even have a substance abuse problem, but it sure is convenient.

I also have a problem with the courts allowing people to testify or give any type of expert testimony anonymously simply because they state they belong to some club and thats what that club does. AA theology and traditions do not superceed the US Constitution.

I also have a real problem with people being killed by repeat drunk drivers that are trained by the AA faith and the recovery industry that they suffer from some mysterious spiritual or brain disease.

The medical, academic, and scientific communities have all dropped the ball here big time in the worst medical disaster in recent history. When an alleged disease is turned over to an anonymous religion very bad things are going to happen.

Deceptive? I think not. Differing from your own opinion, perhaps, but not deceptive.

The foundation upon which AA is founded was deceptive.

Bill W. needed some spending money and a convenient location to find some babes.

Deceptive?

Why doesn't AA celebrate the founding father's sobriety date? Is it because the 12 steps did not work on him?

Deceptive?

I think so!

Which damn god you talking about?

Which god has "cured" the most cult members?

Maybe AA should commission an anonymous study of which "higher power" has the highest cure rate and stick to that one.
