Usage Statistics for orange-papers.org

Have any of ya looked at the OP Usage Statistics lately and noticed the growth in the past year?

http://www.orange-papers.org/webstats/

Over 1000 more visits a day from a year ago.... and from 50k to over 80k more in monthly totals.

Hmmm.... how soon will someone pop in and challenge THAT data too?
They'll be wanting a fourth party double-blind independent controlled study to be conducted in a sterile clinical environment to back it up. Otherwise..... it's just utter nonsense dontchaknow?

The growth of the anti-AA movement and the Orange Papers seems to directly correlate to Moore's Law on the speed at which information is being processed and delivered. According to Moore's Law everything should double in the time span of about three years corresponding to the level of growth of the processing power of the platforms in use to disseminate this information.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law

A very good current example of the speed that information is starting to be disseminated in 2010 can be inferred by looking at the Alcoholics Anonymous North East Region murder in Lewiston Maine in area 28 that took days to filter into the various pro and anti AA forums a few months ago. The shooting in the head of a pregnant woman picking her husband up at an AA meeting by a court ordered AA attendee in the Baldwin park Pacific Region Area 05 was distributed much quicker and reached many forums, including many addictions counselor sites that never reported the Lewiston incident.

Have you checked Google lately?

The "exponential growth" of how fast a web-site's information is accessed probably has more to do with the number of users finding and accessing any given web-site, vs. how fast a computer gets them to it.
I would argue that a web-browser like "Google" is more responsible for the explosion of growth on this forum, then how fast the mHz are in a computer's processors. Considering the number of "antiquated" computers people are getting on-line from (e.g. any computer over 3 years old!), speed of access doesn't seem to enter into it.

Orange's picture

Yes, the numbers just slowly keep ramping up. Now the traffic is consistently over a million hits a month. It's been a long slow steady climb for years. There is a cycle to it — the numbers dip down during the summer when everybody is out playing in the sunshine, and climb during the winter, when people are trapped indoors, and for some odd reason, peak in March. But right now the numbers are exceeding March's numbers, so the traffic is increasing again.

And guess what the consequence is? I receive more requests to run banner ads for treatment centers.

Oh well, have a good day anyway.

Where I can I buy some Orange Papers T-shirts? Made in Japan, of course (like Deep Purple)

Shhhh.... don't tell nobody, but I've secretly got a marketing plan in the works.

Bumper stickers, window decals, ready-to-hang pictures of Orange and Carmen, Jewelry, Trinkets, Keychains, Buttons, Lighters, Orange "Cigarette" Papers and Coffee Mugs (these last two will appeal to about 99% of the members) as well as a multitude of other sundry items. Oh..... and T-Shirts..... gotta have T-Shirts. Our T-Shirts will be Made in the U.S.A. and available in a variety of colors. We anticipate that Bright Orange will be the big seller though... not "Made in Japan" Deep Purple. (that sounds like a good name for an album though!)

We'll be making "Non AO" announcements regarding availability of these items before the Geese and Pony Show ends..... just after we finish pushing our line of printed propaganda. (we give away a FREE copy of the Orange Papers to new members.... whoever raises their hand first!)

What about promoting non 12 step books from amazon. Some are really helpful. Its your call but I might do it. Books are very important . I mean, I needed them when I was leaving AA and they really helped me.

Massive

Orange's picture

That is a good idea. I have no problem with promoting non-12-step books.
In fact, the "Top 10" reading list has several of them:
http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-top10.html

I'm open to more suggestions. I haven't read all of the good books.

- 'The Culture of Recovery; Making Sense of the Self-Help Movement in Women's Lives' (Rapping)
- 'Many Roads, One Journey: Moving Beyond the 12 Steps' (Kasl)
You say that Kasl has a 'good take on the inherently patriarchal attitudes of AA, and the fallacies of codependency.' The sexism in AA has always made me feel uncomfortable - look forward to reading these texts.

Orange- how long has this site existed?

Roughly 10 years now, in various forms. It started as just a dozen essays that were posted on Apple's web site "A.A. deprogramming". But it kept growing and I kept updating and adding things, so it turned into an entity in it's own right. The funny truth is that I started off intending to just write one essay, like a 30-page term paper, about why it was wrong to use A.A. as treatment for alcohol addiction. It kind of grew.

I think I'm supposed to do service work.

Set up a comfortable chair with good back support so that your wrist allow your hands to drop on to the keyboard. Have your favorite beverage at hand in a large cup/glass/tankard/stein, etc. Monitor the OP Forum for 12-Step zealots, recruiters (prospect-hunters), trolls, etc. Launch "keyboard IED's" at their entries. Be as obnoxious as their posts are stupid. Repeat as little or as often as you like.

I went "into the rooms" website for just a few days and they flipped out on me. I tried to get pp to sign my petition about sexual harassment literature. WHat fuckers they are in there. I had to report them, then one guy was sexually harassing me. Idiots. I had to deactivate my profile they are so nasty.Isle tried to come and help me but even she got disgusted.

Massive

Clara's picture

This is what's funny. You go into the rooms and then complain that they aren't thrilled to see you, eagerly embrace your material, yet they are the fuckers. You had to deactivate your profile because they are so nasty? Did they stalk you, your husband, your husband's ex-wife, her current beau and your own ex, all because you "shouldn't be there"?

Remember Christopher Stevens when you vote.

Sure is hard to get that aa brainwash off.

I say make an orange colored bumpersticker featuring a triangle inside a circle with a skull and crossbones in the center. www.orangepapers.org in large print off to the side.

That would say it all.

The Orange Papers has hit another all time high! With the help of our trolls that have received the Spiritual Lobotomy that the con man Bill Wilson has bestowed upon them. The Orange Papers is becoming the "De Facto" source of AA history and AA archivists for the entire Internet connected world by the major search engines! Again we couldn't do it without you!

I noticed that too. Usually, the daily average of visits is way down for most of the month, because of the goofy way that the host system collects statistics. They record the numbers at around 6 AM, before anything has happened that day. So you always have one empty day being averaged into the numbers, and the average for the current month always looks like it is less than last month's average.

But this is only the 7th of the month, and already the daily average for this month, including an empty day, is higher than last month. I'm not sure what is going on, but I like it.

The information I have gathered here has been very good, Orange. I appreciate your efforts. Any takes on medicinal marijuana?

And we again have to thank the AA trolls. The AA troll Becket has disappeared and calisita has come in to take his place. We will not know until after 6am PST the entire tally, but the Orange Papers, thanks to the AA trolls and the Spiritual lobotomy that they have been given by the grace of god and the adulterous Bill Wilson are way ahead of schedule.

The Danny B, Diablo, Quagmire, Three Amigos, Cuggles, etc... troll is attempting the failed try at claiming that a Pro-AA person is in charge of an Anti-AA site due to his delusional state. Stay tuned for the after 6:00am pst March 9 update on the attack of the trolls that drag their victims behind cars....
