Suicide

Forums:

The new revelations follow heart-breaking details from Kennedy's autopsy report that suggest she may have changed her mind as the noose around her neck tightened. The medical examiner's report said Kennedy's fingers were wedged between the hangman's knot and her neck, possibly because she had second thoughts about leaving her four children without a mother.>>

Mary Kennedy's suicide still generates some press, especialy since RFK Jr. had her body relocated last week without filing for the permits and such.

It just cannot be a solution. I feel for this woman and what she must have been going through to think this was the answer.

Mary Kennedy was in a great deal of grief, what would her Sponsor who was taking her through the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous have said at this? I realize your answer will be that it wouldn't happen in your group, but I believe that would be a mistaken and untrue assumption. The average Sponsor would have been telling the prospect to do a 4th Step (i.e. "Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.") in preparation for a 5th Step (i.e. "Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.) thereby delving her deeper into depression.

Of course it can be argued that the 12 Steps didn't do it. Perhaps she was the victim of Clancy I's famous 7 questions and time line which would also cause more depression. For an explanation of Clancy and his 7 questions see - http://orange-papers.org/forum/node/1492

Do you honestly think that any of this was good for a suicidal person to be going through?

She was devoid of alcohol. As for Clancy's famous 7 questions, one is what do you expect of AA. I think it might have been important for Mary to understand her marriage was over. I don't know what she expected AA to do for her that it wasn't doing

So what if she was free of Alcohol? I do believe a drunk Mary Kennedy is better than a dead on anytime. The court system and her husband sent her to the cult of Alcoholics Anonymous and it backfired. They failed and they do it often. This proves that brainwashed AA cult members will do anything to minimize the destruction they do.

It's the old "at least she died sober" loophole trying to make her into a martyr for the cult that Bill Wilson built.

We should agree to disagree. All AA can do is help someone get sober, and her tox reports indicate that she had no booze in her system. She had a lot going on in her life, and she had some of the best help anyone could have. I just found that detail to be overwhelmingy sad.

Don't you agree? I believe that you were the one that immediately came up with the "well at least she was sober" excuse for the failure of the cult trying to blame the victim. Exactly how is chanting the 12 Steps of Bill Wilson supposed to get someone sober?

The cult of Alcoholics Anonymous is supposed to give you a "Spiritual Awakening" and relieve you of all of your problems. How can you say that someone that is court ordered and has her entire family invaded by cult members trying to get her to confess could be any good in her situation?

It's my opinion that she was getting what she needed to out of AA to not be using alcohol. It surely doesn't mean she didn't have more on her plate than that. I think it is all such a shame, and she had much more care and more professionals working with her than most of us have. If your question is was she better off dead or alive, only Mary can answer that. That she was wedging her fingers under the noose that caused the ME to think she had perhaps changed her mind just brings me a lot of sadness. Just tragic, but of course I wish she were alive and had been able to deal with the loss of her marriage.

sometimes. The gift that does not keep giving.

AA is a simple program designed to find god® so he can arreast a "disease".

AA/12 steps is a "treatment program" that doesn't work, sold to "cure" a disease that does not exist.

Is it that hard to see that some AA members will suicide if they have drank the AA/12 steps kool-aid?

AA/12 steps kills people.
