Please keep Ryan in your thoughts and etc....He took his life on June 1. I spoke to his DAD, he emailed me last night. Ryan and I spoke often on the phone and there were many emails.
We have lost a sweet sweet young 25 year old.
His sister Sarah committed suicide last fall and he found Stinkin thinkin 1 month before it shut down.
He started his own blog called Steppin on Suicide. He was very intellignet and he was a great writer.
I will miss him.
This is very, very, very sad.

I am sad beyond words
Ryan and I chatted on the blog many times and through email a couple of times. When he posted a comment, I paid attention to every word. He was a brilliant writer and so insightful. I never met him but it wasnt difficult to recognize what a kind, wonderful person he was. It was obvious that his sisters death was a source of much pain in his life. God bless his parents. I dont know what else to say right now.

Thats terrible. Why would you post this over here? He was not a participant on this forum. Do you think he would have wanted everyone to know? Its a very personal subject. And what does ST shutting down have to do with it? He was on your radio show and a part of your forum.

Massive, this is very sad news. I will keep Ryan & his family in my prayers. Although I was not active on ST or knew of Ryan, I'm aware of how exceptionally painful it is to lose a young person & your child. My son's name was Ryan also. I can only hope & pray that Ryan is in a better place with no pain or worries. May Ryan rest in peace. May his parents also find some peace some day.

massive: what do you contend
massive: what do you contend was the reason for his having committed suicide? Wasn't he getting the help that he needed? Was no one involved in trying to get this young man separated from his ideations?
disclosure: why would he have "wanted to be remembered here"? He was never on this forum, was he? Or do you mean "here" as in still among the living?

They're questions, Persephone
They're questions, Persephone, not comments. And why should anyone take at face value stories about suicides, particularly in view of their controversial nature? Some want to blame it on the Steps, some want to blame it on childhood abuse, some want to blame it on anything other than the fact that the person made the decision after careful consideration to pick up a weapon of some sort and deal himself or herself a lethal blow. Come on. I'm not arguing, I'm asking questions. Suicide has been a topic of repeated conversation here. If someone posts an incident, what is the purpose of that? You might ask massive why she felt the need to even bring it to anyone's attention. It's not audacious to take the bait, Persephone.
Back off.

In and of themselves, the questions you asked were good ones and worthy of exploration. The timing and placement of the questions was distasteful and inappropriate. Seems to me, this would have been a good time to heed the old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all." Perhaps starting a new thread on the topic of suicide may have been more appropriate.

I did back off. I backed off
I did back off. I backed off of this entire site because of comments like yours.
I liked Ryan quite a bit. He was a follower on my blog, and I was on his. Even so, I'd not have known what happened without the post here from Massive. Wait, no, Massive also posted this on the OTHER forum, the one that people like you aren't allowed to post on.
Why should anyone back off of you? Your entire existence here hinges on you posting solely to try and get a rise out of people. People here. On an anonymous web forum. You must be a very bitter and lonely old woman to do this day in and day out. By all means, go pull this in real life to people's faces. I would love to see the results of that.

I think it's obvious that he did not get the help he needed
Many of the individuals who post here knew Ryan and were no longer participating in blogs where he posted. They have shown their appreciation for being notified of this tragedy. What difference does it make if he posted here or not. Why do those who did not know him seem to have a problem with that??
I dont think anyone can be certain of all the reasons this young, intelligent man with so much to offer, felt the need to take his own life. Anyone who read the passionate, honest issues he spoke about, understands that he had not yet received the help he needed. I know for a fact that there were people who tried to help him. This is not a time to blame anyone or anything for his death. We dont know if Ryan would have objected to being remembered here on Orange (per say) but I think he would have appreciated be remembered.
