Dr Drews 'production' team was buying drinks for the patients

It’s true that reality television cannot get by on peace and harmony. With an eye toward making some riveting TV ourselves, Dennis, Mike, and I decided to go out to a club and create a tense scene that would leave the impression we were going to relapse. I figured that, as cocktail waitresses passed by, we’d give them some pensive, unsure looks. And then, even though we were never really in danger of relapsing, the commercial for the show could tease the episode by making it appear that we’d had a truly difficult time maintaining our sobriety.

Dr. Drew had no idea of our plot, nor did Production. I was totally surprised when girls began walking over to us with free vodka Red Bulls. Dennis was not impressed.

“They’re going to have to do way better than that to tempt me to drink,” he said. “Look, it’s all Production buying the drinks.”

It seemed like it must be true. Toward the end of the night, we confronted the production crew about whether they’d tried to derail our sober evening, but nobody admitted to sending the cocktail girls our way.

On another night, we left Sober House as a group, packed into a giant white van for an evening at Pimai It’s Tai. On the way down the hill, Seth (Shifty Shellshock) Binzer, frontman of the rap band Crazy Town who had been treated multiple times on Dr. Drew shows for his crack problem, said something that made me nervous.

“I’m good this time, I think,” he said. “I’m gonna follow the rules.”

“It’s okay to break the rules,” Gia, one of the field producers, said.

“You mean you’re not,” I said to Seth.

It seemed like it must be true? Nobody admitted sending the waitresses to the people in question? This is corroboration? It does not say with any certainty that the production crew incited anyone to drink. Weak, man.

Anyway, I thought your deal was that AA kills people, not that Dr. Drew kills people. In either case, wrong again, pal.

The third said, "Boy you guys are a couple of wimps; I didn't have to buy my wife anything at all!!!"

The others just looked at him in amazement, and asked how he managed that!

The smartest of the three said, "It was easy, when I got up this morning I looked her straight in the eye and asked, "Golf course or Intercourse?"

She threw me a sweater and said, "Take this, it might get chilly out there!""

Who slipped? Who fell?

I watched one season of this garbage and became immediately disgusted. Dr. Drew has got to be the poster child for exploiting clients for personal financial gain. Not that these attention whores don't deserve it, but you would hope a professional would have enough ethics to understand that he is putting what should be a private and personal matter up for exhibition on national TV.
But I am sure just like AA, he convinces himself that sharing personal matters with strangers is "helping people".
Dr. Drew is a 12-step quack who has done very well for himself. At the expense of washed-up, drug addicted attention whores.

"Parents complain about the quality of the shows but don't prevent their children from gluing themselves to the boob tube." Advertisements selling sex, booze, and cigarettes.
