Both. Your sobriety isn't up
Both. Your sobriety isn't up for vote. You are putting the failure to get a signature on the shoulders of someone instead of taking responsibilty for not getting there on time.

No, Penny you are mistaken.
You may be expressing the bylaws of your home group but you can't speak for all groups.
becket has mentioned it several times, the most important moral clause when factoring whether you have abstinence or sobreity is your intent. What were your motives?
I am also not so threatened by alcohol based products. I still use listerine, cough medicine w/ alcohol ect...I don't play chicken with alcohol and I also don't obsess over it either.
This is me, so my framework for sobreity would be different. There are others who have carried it even further to the edges of what they consider sobreity.

No, it isn't. I have always been straight forward about my feelings about food. I have gone out with my ladies after the meeting, where 5 of us have ordered steak madeira and it was an issue with no one. It's not the issue you make it out to be.

Penny the 12 step world is a little strange sometimes. Heres a good example. My buddy in AA had over a decade sober, was a really well excepted member. He went to a party and the waiter accidently gave him a rum and coke when he just ordered a coke. He took a chug and realized that he had ingested alcohol. Nothing happened that night of course but when he shared it at a mtg it was not considered a relapse because of his intentions. he did not want to ingest alcohol so it is not a slip.

A little strange is right. I assume that you didn't mention the cough syrup or xanax in your group because both would be considered a slip, even though you took both for valid reasons rather than to get wasted.

I don't think AA has the "authority" to legitimately weigh in on the Xanax question. AA is about booze. Now, alcohol in cough medicine is booze, but there again, what is the intent? To get some rest or to get blitzed?
I just don't ingest anything with alcohol in it. I make sure all my doctors know that I can't have any medications prepared in an alcohol suspension. I don't mind taking a little extra time getting well if it means I don't have to wrastle with the alcohol question and everything it impacts. That's just me. Let others do what they will.

Let's not forget that the sherry in your soup is not always a passive ingredient that just happens to come with it. At restaurants that don't serve it standard, you go out of your way to request a cup of it as a special side.
Anyway, I only pick on you because you are so obstinate and I think you can take it in stride. I wouldn't actually try to out you from the chair, and I hope you understand I wish you no ill will.

I do understand that, and I
I do understand that, and I posted the menu from one of my favorite spots in Annapolis as to how it is served and what I came to expect. Mr. Fish didn't serve it that way, and I don't know if that was oversight on their part or just how they do it. I did notice a soup served with sherry cream on their menu. Most recipes tend to call for sherry service with lobster or crab bisque.
So, I dunno. But it did take my lunch companion aback and what I took from that was not to do that in front of her again. I did notice, howver, when we went to the Collector's Cafe in MB for deesert and coffee/tea after a meeting, she ordered the chocolate mousse. She said it had "something" in it but she didn't stop eating it. Tomato, to-ma-to, I guess....

I think plenty of people are
I think plenty of people are familiar with bisques served without a sherry service. That is a very regional thing, and doesn't extend to all parts of the US. I can't speak for other countries, I've just never seen a sherry service with bisque, which is (again) a regional difference. In other words, it's optional.

That looks like it. What is your point, PIE? Remember that She Crab and Crab Bisque are two different things. One is a Virginia style that includes roe and the other doesn't. Their site didn't include a description or recipe.

JJ, I actually understand the idea that it is not a relapse if the consumption was unintentional. Makes sense. The problem is that Clara goes out of her way to specially request the liquor when the restaurant she is at does not normally use it as an ingredient in the dish.

Welcome
There is a lot to read on this forum, but you may want to look at the main site http://orange-papers.org for a while to get a good feel for the place. We unfortunately have many mean trolls from Alcoholics Anonymous on the forum right now.

Thank you
I had spent 3-4 hours on the Link you had sent , it was tricky for me .. Just imagine ... just a month clean and i had read Orange papers ... I was Mega confused , no one to go too for advice... but didnt want to slip .. so kept going to these meetings but did not open my mouth , just noted stuff that made sense to me and my usual triggers .. Did get sneers and taglines as ...Flying Solo , Mr.Self Will run riot , Mr.Inflated Ego ..etc ... So mean trolls these days tend to freak me out a bit , but also invariably give me Subtle good advice ..like " Be Clean , dont end up a Mean Troll like me Son "... and i thank them for that ;-)
Really Appreciate your welcome , grateful to you ..JR
