Neither is Texico.
I don't understand it, either. AA taught me that I owe no explanations, but then you see people that make a big production over leaving the felowship. One guys said that he "announced" it at an AA wedding. What an AA wedding is, I don't know, but what a child. Grandios thinking at its best.
Remember Christopher Stevens when you vote.
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 11:08
"AA taught me that I owe no explanations,"
Anytime Ive been to a stepper cult meeting, the chairperson always reads out explantions of truebelievers who have not attended that particluar meeting.
What do you mean "AA taught me that I owe no explanations", that is just another meaningless statement, without further clarification
......and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Matthew 24:11
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 14:49
For some reason I always thought that I owed people explanations without realizing that most anything about me wasn't their business. This came up at a recent meeting when we were taking about how we often feltwe had to be the end all to everyone, unable to say no to their requests, and then being resentful that we didn't. It was wonderful to learn that I didn't owe people explanations, their opinion of me had nothing to do with who or what I am, and there you have it.
I had this great group of women around me that became the types of sisters that I didn't have and mentors to me in so many ways. Much of what I came to learn were just things that others had access to earlier in their lives.

Everyone else seem to be, even AA members that want what we have..... 2.5 Million hits can't be all wrong
"Tradition 10 - Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the AA name ought never be drawn into public controversy." Please follow orders from the Interchurch Center if you are an AA member and don't comment.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 12:21
No, but odds are a good many are totally turned off, never to return. Hits are nothing unless the people behind them become visible. They are as minimally significant as someone listening to 30 seconds of a downloadable tune and deciding it's not worth the ninety-nine cents.

"but odds are a good many are totally turned off"
Reminds me of AA meetings. Most people never come back after a meeting or two.......can't be the stimulating intelligent conversation can it :-)
Fri, 06/22/2012 - 04:41
'Hits are nothing unless the people behind them become visible.' I've been checking in nearly every day for quite a few weeks, but the rough and tumble that goes on in here is a bit scary. Don't fancy having my experience invalidated or ripped apart, particularly after I found relief and validation in reading OP.
Fri, 06/22/2012 - 00:13
Right on the money! Plenty of cult members only dream of having permanent abstinence from hedonic substances. Plenty of cult members would probably feel relieved to know that just because they have/had an addiction does not make them "abnormal" or "speshul." Plenty of people in those roomz would probably love to know that they don't have to work any steps, believe in higher (or lower) powers, surrender personal discernment and personal decision-making power to a sponsor or a group, or put up with sociopathic predators threatening them with death if they don't adhere to the cult dogma. You are RIGHT ON THE MONEY.....THEY want what WE have!!!! YES! I swear to the FSM, I love my freedom. I escaped "The Matrix." Stepper cult can't stand the fact that there are millions of self-recovered people who live just fine, think for themselves, and don't need AA! It just metaphorically kicks the true believers in "the babymaker" to know there are truly FREE people who know they are not in "need" of AA "dialysis"!
"There's a new sheriff in town."

"Stepper cult can't stand the fact that there are millions of self-recovered people who live just fine, think for themselves, and don't need AA!"
This is ludicrous. You are ridiculous. Git on back to yer other cult site.

AA/12 step ThinkSpeak© "treatment" for alcohol abuse has a proven overall success rate of 3-5%. Some say AA even has a 0% success rate, maybe even negative.
Most people recover own their own, with no treatment whatsoever. AA/12 steps don't won't people to know this. If this information became widely known the revenue stream for the ineffective AA/12 step "treatment" programs would shrivel to a trickle.
Self-recovery, natural recovery, spontaneous remission-these are all terms that describe the 70% plus of substance abusers that quit on their own, with NO treatment.
"This study, known as the National Longitudinal Alcohol Epidemiologic Survey, indicates first that treatment is not a cure-all, and second that it is not necessary. The vast majority of Americans who were alcohol dependent, about three-quarters, never underwent treatment. And fewer of them were abusing alcohol than were those who were treated."http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/200407/the-surprising-truth-abou...
For TRish, I know this is hard for you to comprehend with all those voices in your head, but try to focus here. "about three-quarters" = 75%.
That is to say TRish, that about 75% of substance abusers quit on their own.
For CLar, you said previously that you had never heard of "natural recovery". I am not surprised, being a fully indoctrinated AA/12 stepper. AA does not want you to know.
For judge becker, who has not been to an AA meeting for 20+ years, and has admitted publicly, on this very forum, that the 12 steps are not keeping him sober, and that what got him sober was discipline and structure. The becker needed to be controlled by structure and discipline (a cult).

A member with OCD accounted for 2,499,999 of those hits
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 09:22
i was waiting for my membership shirt and hat before I left
Right on Franny1 Im probably 1 of the 3 trolls, but im really not. I know the program is pretty much BS. I just think that when i was new and i believed, it helped me get sober because others were sober to. I used to be almost as angry as Patti but not anymore. Its been years.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 11:37
I can see if a person is mandated to a program thtsa he/she doesn't want to be a part of, that is one thing. My experience is that most peope are joining from free will, and that is a part of it. AA doesn't want people to be there that are "made" to go.
I think it is sort of interesting to listen to the anger and the reason that these people give taht "justifies" their anger. You lent money to someone that didn't give it back? I've done that all of my life and never met any of those clown users in AA. But people in AA are at any level of "wellness" so why would you lend them money at all? You can meet people like that anywhere. Why did you lend the money? AA doesn't tell you to lend money to people. That was a personal decision and if you talk with anyone about it beforehand, I bet you won't lend the money.
AA isn't a marriage counselor, and I have seen it go both way. Some people stay married through recovery. Others realize the marriage has a lot of problems and isn't salaveable. Be honest with yourself. Is AA the baby that is supposed to save a marriage?
Did the steps get me sober? I don't really know, but I definitely know that they helped improve the quality of my life. If something can help with some of the ickiness I felt about a few things, then goodie for me! I think the fellowship was a huge factor. I say people with happy lives, living well without alcohol, and I believeded that I could do it, too. We had a lot of fun, boating, camping, having picnics and parties, some went to Europe on a group trip. Life was very good. I met my wonderful husband.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 11:47
in search of those poor unfortunates that can't run away from them. They claim if you chant Bill Wilson, you can get out of jail and go to AA rituals in church basements instead of jail. The devil reincarnate of Bill Wilson will do anything to have you join them in their pagan ceremonies. Satan has many faces.
P.S. Careful in El Paso, they don't sign your court cards unless you chant correctly, are early, leave late, do lots of service work and marry another cult member or have them join Al-Anon.

Meaningless stepper cult speak........... Give ONE example of how the steps improved the quality of your life

My renewed relationship with my sister. It is one of several. Cleaning up my act and repairing my life, and becoming something a wonderful man with no agenda, nothing to use, abuse or misued is another.
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 11:39
Tell the truth now Clara, since you moved to the El Paso coven of Alcoholics Anonymous, how many people have you dissed because they were not worthy of the Myrtle Beach crab soup slurpng coven?
By the way, the El Paso coven of Alcoholics Anonymous is doing pretty good right now. They have $33,419.33 in cash.http://aaelpaso.org/aa_el_paso_financial_page.html

No jonni, we all know you are all 4 trolls. I am not counting Danny, I mean TRish, since he can't be classified as a troll.
Can't count jojosan either, he will be banned shortly.
Oh well, have a nice day.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 14:59
"Can't count jojosan either, he will be banned shortly."
What would lead you to say something like this? What has this person done to be "banned", and who is going to "ban" him/her if Orange won't?

One huge Anti Sanity - Anti AA bullshit trip.... hanging out with a fruit cake guru like her would lead anyone to suicide...
She is worse than Bill Wilson.....
At least Bill Wilson was a genuine bona-fide fraud.
She is just an idiot with opinions and no solutions.
"I take it you come from...." - idiot is as idiot does - stupid fuck hole.
I am your relapse.

Nah, that's not Becket. JarJarBinks there has no grasp of the English language. Bombed out on the your/you're bit right off the bat. My guess is that JIF got locked back up and escaped long enough to post here a few times.
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 14:37
Well, why is any of this objectionable? Worse has been directed at me, and you just let it roll off your butt like the crap it is.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 17:49
I'm angry @ AA & the abuses it causes to people. what is wrong with that? you are on this forum all the time, antagonizing & bothering people, but you are not angry. lots of peoples thoughts & feelings have bothered you many times, but you are not angry. AA & its members twist the truth, are not truthful, are here simply to bother people & to defend the cult. they can't accept rejection. why are you here?
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 14:46
When I hear some of the reasons why people are upset with AA, I realize that they would just be upset anywhere. I also find that most people that have left AA don't find fault with the same behaviors outside of AA. On the other site, there are people giving each other legal and medical advice, but if that had happened in AA, it would be a bad thing. I can't help but notice that none of the participants were professionals inthose fields, so why is it okay, other than we tend to ask the opinions of other people? I also noticed an article posted where someone was promoting his book with seven steps, not twelve. But most Antis would be dismissive of anything that took any steps. It make sme wonder if they just wanted sobriety handed to them without any effot at all. In this information, some of dealing with cravings is understanding that they will pass and to focus on some task to take you rmind off of it. This is in LS and also remembering that "This too shall pass!" Sometimes, advice is good regardless of where you get it.
One posted about her abuse at the hands of an AA that took her for several hundred dollars. She was piffy over the fact that her sponsor put it on her to some degree. She refers to the AA as a "newcomer" (aka "I don't know much about him...") yet she has no part in that? All these years later, she cannot see how she handed someone a large amount of money, someone she knew little about, yet it is some how AA's fault. If she had met that same individual anywhere else, she still would have had a role in it. No one knocked her down and picked her pocket or stole her purse.
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 15:07
All you do it regurgitate AA dogma for an answer to everything. This thread is not about the slogan "it works if you work it" or "it worked for me." Get a life and hopefully a cult free one.
Now go back to El Paso AA and hold the signing of court cards over peoples head like a good little crap slurping soup narcissist. Maybe you should go the the AA Central Office Steering Committee meetings at the Central Office the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in AA Area 66, District 10 El Paso, Texas and tell them how to handle court mandated prospects.

Why be rude, Msa? Perhaps I posted to the wrong one. Did it every dawn on you that someone might simply make an error or are you in such hate mode, you can't think any other way?
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 13:12
They relate everything to the scripture of Bill Wilson because they have been brainwashed that way.
Simple test. How many times have you chanted this statement?
"Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs."
(Step 12 of the Indoctrination process of Alcoholics Anonymous)
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 13:47
Interestingly, members of FAA (Fear Alcoholics Anonymous) also chant everything Bill Wilson because they believe they are nobly re-directing and saving the vulnerable. When that tactic loses impact they fabricate other organizations to fear, such as McDonald's (FMcD) and Walmart (FWM). Then they go about flooding outlets with sketchy, unrelated "reports" of crimes which have allegedly taken place at various McDonalds (FMcD!) and Walmart (FWM!!) locations in a hollow attempt to draw some correlation between these incidents and Bill Wilson, who has been dead and buried since 1971. When that doesn't carry the weight they would hope for, they hide behind the "jails, institutions and death" mantra or the "prospecting hunting" scenario, in order to construct exemption from sharing any legitimate experiences that someone - anyone - might actually identify with. They believe "indoctrination" into the AA mindset takes place where one might least expect it - in casual conversation at a bus stop, in the board room - you name it: no one can escape the tentacles of AA, as FAA, or Fear Alcoholics Anonymous would have you believe.
"No one is safe. You are all going to die chanting 'We realize we know only a little . . . we realize we know only a little,'" as if there is something dishonorable or shameful in admitting there is more to be learned. The final concepts anyone should adopt, as a member of FAA, is that there is nothing more to be learned, and that blanket distrust of all things AA is compulsory. Let the mind-shuttering begin.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 17:53
You don't have to read JRs posts or any other post. You do not have to participate on this forum. You don't have to come here & twist the truth, mock the members, attack the members. You just don't seem to have anything better to do than be here, can only guess it replaces the loneliness of no longer belonging to AA. You could go back, hang out, meet some new friends.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 21:01
patti says: "You don't have to ...." Ditto. Almost word for word.
You don't have to read [anyone's] posts or any other post. You do not have to participate on this forum. You don't have to come here & twist the truth, mock the members, attack the members. You just don't seem to have anything better to do than be here, can only guess it replaces the loneliness of no longer belonging to AA. You could go back, hang out, meet some new friends.
Look at the similarities between the anti-AA'ers and the pro-AA'ers here on OPF. LOL!
Thu, 06/21/2012 - 15:00
I'm mocking the members - the members! The members of the HateCult, of which you, patti, are a card-carrying, flag-waving, shit-stirring member?
Thu, 06/21/2012 - 20:49
LOL. How in the world can someone who hates a dangerous religious cult that is all about making money to pay its fat cats, now that the original fat cat is dead also be in a cult? You are just too crazy. Why do you think it is insulting to anyone to be told that they hate AA? Every one that is sane hates abusers & cults. Its nothing to be ashamed of. Its a sane & decent emotion & reaction. Also we are EX members, the operative word being EX. No longer a member of any group. Particularly a mind control cult that does not allow critical thinking or sanity.
Thu, 06/21/2012 - 23:57
Or, "Amen" as some say! :-)
Wed, 06/20/2012 - 11:26

So why don't you stepper zombies actually learn something more, instead of just parroting the same old stepper BS week in week out, year in year out

"Clara You Clueless Twit"
"There is nothing on this thread about AA. Get a grip and shut that brainwashed trap, not everything revolves around 'recovery' and your dumb fellowship."
What a punk. Take your stupid kool-aide avatar and go over to the site your buddies like to hide on.
You remind me of the queer little nerds who hung out in their "Circle Jerk Society" in the HS bathroom.
Clara this douche couldn't even carry your laundry on one of his best days.
Remember this, this entire site was built with AA in mind, dumb-ass.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 17:55

You're quite the classy lady Danny.
Go ahead, enjoy yourselves - it's getting late, much later than you think.
Tue, 06/19/2012 - 15:04
Real nice, msafrany. Shows that handle on happy, contented living. Did you pay off the Cordiality Police so you could vomit hateshit with impunity and claim complete contentment all at the same time? What did the payoff cost ya? I don't think you're gettin your money's worth. I can still see the disconnect - isn't your dual performance here supposed to be seamless?
