found at the bottom of a pool and details are sketchy.

Another of Dr(?) Drew Pinsky's celebrity rehab patients dead with an autopsy pending.

He joins the dead pool of Mike Starr (former Alice in Chains bassist) and Jeff Conaway (Grease) of Pinskys celebrity rehab alumni who are now prematurely dead.

Draw your own conclusions.

He was tortured over the people who died. He was a fuck up, a drunk, a drug addict, and up until that dude truned on his camrecorder he was just getting a beating. I got my share from cops

But he was a good guy, and 50 people died in the riots. Lives were destroyed. Not much good came from it. Nothing changed

OK, so here's a guy who is declaring what JR Harris and many of you loathe, and that is "jails, institutions or death!" Turns out he was right. So is it true that jails, institutions or death can actually be where one winds up if drug and/or alcohol dependence is not curtailed? Yes or no?

Dr. Drew is pulling a Bill Wilson martyr tactic like Bill did with his first "experiment" with the ritual chanting of his cult. Bill C was a Canadian lawyer that Bill captured and brought back to 182 Clinton Street in Brooklyn when he said he could live with him and he'd feed him, little did he know he was going into a voodoo cult and he ended up killing himself in the kitchen with the kitchen stove in 1936. He was also right next to the famous kitchen table that is enshrined at Stepping Stones in New Bedford, New York. Soon after he died, Bill W made a martyr out of him to sell Big Books. I'm sure Dr. Drew, the Recovery Ghoul will do the same thing with the death of Rodney King.

use the word 'rehab' as a punchline one should question the validity and credibility of the recovery industry.

I do not think anyone here will argue that excessive drinking will kill people, and do it in a short amount of time.

In my case I am not questioning the damage that is cause by abusing alcohol or other substances. I do question the unproven and ineffective methods marketed and coerced by the recovery industry that are making a lot of money for a few people while killing a lot of people.

I am questioning the emporers clothing.

Yes, Becket. Of course jails, institutions, or death CAN and sometimes are the outcome of addidction. Of course. I don't believe that anyone would dispute the fact that peole can and do die from drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, what we hear in AA is that drug and alcohol addiction will ALWAYS lead to jails, institutions and death if total abstinence is not achieved and if the program is not being followed thoroughly. I would disagree that jails, institutions and death are all that await anyone who rejects AA. That is the message I loathe.
As for Dr. Drew? He can go to hell. I can't even imagine the pain that Rodney King had to live with every day of his life. I'm not going to even speculate. But Dr. Drew will go ahead and speculate. And that CNN reporter will go ahead and speculate along with countless others.

Yeah, there's a smarmy quality about recovery on t.v. for pay, but that was their contract. It was an agreement between them. Is your name on the contract? Have you lost something in the deal? Do you think Drew Pinsky "killed" Rodney King?

No one is saying, "if you don't stay with AA, you will die, go to jail or institutions". What they ARE saying is if you are an alcoholic or an addict and you continue to use you will either die, go to jail or an institution. The percentile of one of these three things happening are huge and YOU know it.
Anti's are more interested in throwing mud at AA then telling the truth. Btw, who really gives a shit what you think of Dr. Drew. Seems America is listening whether we like it or not.
I don't like the show because the actors and actresses have no honest intent of getting clean, it is a publicity move for them IMO.
As far as Rodney King,

YES, abso-fucking-lutely.

Drew has blood on his hands. As do others in the recovery industry that continue to promote AA/12 steppism as the ONLY method that works.

This industry and those who promote it do need to be held accountable for their actions, particlularly when they are the 'experts' that are promoting kidnapping by the states law enforcement system such as a Marchman Act or 5150 to coercively exert their religion on other people.

I would not give them ANY credit for being experts on anything when they cannot disclose empirical, peer reviewed efficacy rates, and continue to operate under a shroud of anonymity while claiming medical credibility.

Yeah, I am sure all the patients on Dr.Drews show are just victims. They all have agents, public relations people and lawyers. The actors and celebrities (Rodney King) are being paid and all of this is Dr.Drew fault, not the personal getting the gig for the person.

Cmon, we have already went over this many times. Dr. Drew is a scumbag publicity hound. We all know this but are the people in his TV rehab really looking to get sober or are they just there to drum up drama, get a paycheck and keep themselves in the public eye? Most if not all the celebs careers are finished. You cannot blame AA, NA or any other form of recovery for this. We all know that if the addict does not want to get sober for real, he wont. The drama in that shit show is beyond ridiculous. He said, she said BS. Think about it like this, their agent calls them up and says 'i have found something for you are you interested?' Of course they are. Time to go to rehab. Thats a big difference than waking up and calling a detox or rehab on your own account.

Are we not being like steppers by assuming that because a person with a substance abuse history died it was because he was drunk or high? Now maybe he was fucked up. I'm not saying he wasn't. But in the absence of additional information, it is consistent with the stepper mindset to assume drugs or alcohol were involved.
