Despite the constant denial of members of Alcoholics Anonymous that they do not tell new members who have been enticed to go to an AA meeting by coercion or court order that they do not do tell you you are going to die, it is the standard operation procedure for them to do so. The coercion manual commonly called the "Big Book" explicitly tells them to do this. The manual also instructs the AA member to use it to get the new members they have targeted to admit they are an "Alcoholic" regardless if they are or not. It is documented deception that is cross referenced throughout the mental manipulation manual called "Alcoholics Anonymous" which Bill Wilson plagiarized and called his own to grow the cult and make him rich.
Chapter 7 "Working With Others" page 92 of the "Big Book"
Continue to speak of alcoholism as an illness, a fatal malady. Talk about the conditions of body and mind which accompany it. Keep his attention focused mainly on your personal experience. Explain that many are doomed who never realize their predicament. Doctors are rightly loath to tell alcoholic patients the whole story unless it will serve some good purpose. But you may talk to him about the hopelessness of alcoholism because you offer a solution. You will soon have your friend admitting he has many, if not all, of the traits of the alcoholic. If his own doctor is willing to tell him that he is alcoholic, so much the better.

"Realities can be different"? Funny....I thought we were in a forum talking about the same dysfunctional program here....with the same steps, the same traditions, the same 12 concepts, and the same slogans and pat one liners handed down through generations of 12 stomp recovery...

or do you go back in a time
or do you go back in a time machine to Nazi Germany.
Kind of. The meetings I go to were founded by a man who was in a related group led by a Nazi sympathizer. That much is true.

Anthro/massive says; So he
Anthro/massive says; So he got a flight from the midwest out to the west coast, found an AA clubhouse and a willing old timer, took him upstairs to a meeting room and poured out his guts. Got back on a plane and went home.
Never told a soul in his hometown his business. Now that's a smart drunk!!
JJ says; I never saw the importance of a 5th step. I was staying sober just fine without it. Funny how people cannot make up their mind for themselves. The guy sounds like an idiot. Lol aguy flies to the midwest gets to a AA clubhouse, spills his guts and leaves. All in the same day? lol Some story. Hi Massive

I don't think I said he did
I don't think I said he did it all in a day. I don't know about that. I don't know all the details. I told the story to make a point about the way some people have found it necessary and vital for their own autonomy, well being, and "mental health" to find creative ways around the coercive measures dictated in the cult. Whether or not you believe in doing a 5th step is hardly relevant. There have always been people hanging around AA who never did any of the steps. Some of them had no need. Some of them were in AA for other reasons like for drugs or sex. Some people come into AA because they're cheap and don't want to pay for a therapist. My ex told me half the people in Calipornia are in a 12 step group of some kind now because ....well.....just because!! LOLOL

I think it was a stroke of genius. I wish I had never gone through with a 5th step. The second best thing would have been to do it totally anonymously (what a concept!) Like the guy in your story.

I was at a bus stop in San Fransico when someone did a Forrest Gump on me. I had no idea what was happening. It wasn't until I got into AA that I understood. I didn't feel that I could leave this woman and it took a couple hours while the busses kept going by. My sister was furious that I didn't get to legislative plaza...

JJ says; I just find it funny (not your post) how so many people took it so serious. If your sober for a while in AA and its working fine, that should be enough. It is for many.

JJ knows; Thats bullshit. Who is he to make that assumption?

Could you define....."its
Could you define....."its working fine"? What's working? Define for me what is "working fine" and then tell me if its working why you still need to be in AA? Why would anyone even go to AA (aside from all the coercive measures forced by the courts) if "its working fine"? In other words, if you are sober and no longer drinking, why are you still attending AA?

That's a good question. Why
That's a good question. Why stay in AA if you've successsfully stopped drinking? If you're sober, why continue to go to meetings year after year? Is it because "the disease has a way of sneaking up on you?" Is it because an alcoholic has to contantly work with others in order to stay sober? Is AA the only way to maintain your "spiritual fitness?"

Death, you will lose your family, you will end up a vegetable, and one crazy told me that I wouldn't be allowed to be buried in a Catholic cemetary. Excepting that last bit I can see the others being a possibility if you don't stop abusing drugs but I don't see how that has anything to do with AA/NA.

So: are you dead yet? Is anyone here dead yet? Doesn't that reality solve this problem?
