Hi
I just started to post on the Orange Forum. Ive followed the Orange Papers for over 3 years and also followed Stinkin Thinkin. Although I have posted on the OP letters a few times I have kept a very low profile and so far kept of the Forum because I have been previously involved in Moderation Management in the UK and also SMART Recovery UK.
I personally despise stepism, I was cofounder of AA in Mansfield Nottinghamshire in 1980 and was therefore instrumental in the establishment of the cult in North Nottinghamshire. Not becaused I wanted to, I was just another confused, vunerable person, sucked into this thing,
My great friend and sponsor Eric, who arrived drunk on a train from Scotland to establish AA in Nottingham committed suicide in 1982 and another great friend Sue and cofounder of Mansfield AA Tuesday Group died of a heart attact in 1983, both these deaths I blame directly on the destructive cult indoctrination of AA.
I myself upon escape from the cult, (I moved to Essex in 1982, although now back in Notts), spent the best part of 30 years in destructive drinking and ilegal drug use, a direct result of the self fulfilling prophecy of powerlessness, the cornerstone of stepism.
Over the last 3 years as a result of both the ideas of Moderation Management explained in their excellent book, Responsible drinking, and also the cult deprogramming of the Orange Papers, Stinkin Thinkin, More Revealed and others in the Anti AA movement, I am now pursuing a lifestyle of Moderation with Alcohol (I am not prepared to give up the social life revolving around alcohol) and total abstinence from Cocaine and nicotine.
Personally I believe in the existence of God, but firmly believe stepism is Satanic, the clues are there for all to see

Always nice to see someone from the other side of the pond
Alcoholics Anonymous and the world domination of Bill Wilson chanting spearheaded by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. (AAWS) at the Interchurch center in New York city, and the storm trooper training of the Hazelden Foundation in Minnesota is a global problem that should be addressed wherever the patriarchal cult of Alcoholics Anonymous and the deviant "elite" recruited from jails and prison who are the lieutenants of this secret society, need to be put in check worldwide. Welcome.
"Tradition 10 - Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the AA name ought never be drawn into public controversy." Please follow orders from the Interchurch Center if you are an AA member and don't comment.

We just don't take to religion by nature. That's why the Pilgrim Fathers pissed off to the States. It wasn't because they were persecuted, it was because nobody here took religion seriously...lol. They wanted a flock they could persecute and look down on - sound familiar?

Now working moderation, etc.
Open to most ideas.
Love your thought on Satanic AA and would love to hear more on it from you.
My only options are all my other options.
I am not broken or powerless.

Good to see somebody else
Good to see somebody else from the uk, there seems to be a fair proportion of the people here from the Uk which does not reflect well on the way AA works here. It is true to say we tend to be less religious but I can see you do believe in God yet still found the AA doctrine lacking.
I also sadly saw the destructive side of AA membership which can lead to bad relapses. I joined the same time as a lady who went to as many meetings as possible and really tried to get it compared to myself yet I was sad to learn she relapsed, went on a binge and had a stroke as a result. The powerless suggestion is very powerful and destructive if you turn it against yourself.
Considering how AA manages to polarise views I am surprised there has not been a Uk troll here yet, although one did appear on the stinkin thinkin forum who was one of the maddest and really aggressive and was quickly banned. I actually could tell who he was as he was a real handful in London meetings when I was there. He was also a Manchester City supporter so I find it quite amusing that he won't be able to celebrate today's result in the traditional manner.

I can't remember but it had Jesus in it somewhere I think! I remember he used a phrase " piss and vinegar" the whole time which rather gave him away as he would explode from time to time in one of the large London meetings. He was really crazy - a real damaged brain I'm afraid and certainly not the sort of person you would wish to sit next to in a meeting.
I used to admire some of the hard cases that had made it from the streets in AA which is really against the odds considering the way they are treated generally, but some of those meetings had some really damaged people in them. Sadly there are quite a lot who will never recover from the damage they have done to themselves and coming into contact with them in AA certainly brought home how bad it could get.

Hi NoAAUK
Welcome to the forum! I'm from the UK too (London via Essex and Manchester, with a good deal of Wales thrown in along the way!).
@LFOD - Yes, we have a long drinking culture in the UK. Do you know the poem, "The rolling English drunkard made the rolling English road." ? :) (Try saying that after a few.)
@Ben - You're a bit harsh on the Pilgrim Fathers. On the other hand they did try to abolish Christmas but insisted on people wearing funny hats anyway, so not much sympathy there :) .

Yes she was under so much preasure with the cult doctrine. Sue needed something like Moderation Management or HAMS not that fearmongering mind screwing garbage.
Sue would be alive today if she had not become involved in stepism

Eric would have made an excellent SMART Recovery facilitator and would not have taken his own life had he been involved with a non 12 step group. But there was nothing but AA in those days. And even now I know of a least two SMART UK meetings run by steppers, but thats another story.

no aauk- hi Welcome and thanks for posting. I agree with you and so glad to hear from you.
Sorry to hear about the deaths of your friends.
After leaving AA last May ( I was in AA over 3 decades and sober that long ) ( although honestly Im so tired of it all ) I started a radio show on blog talk radio to expose it and Interview authors and founders of all the other options including moderation. I am having Donna Cornett also a founder of www.drinklinkmoderation.com on Tuesday to discuss youth binge drinking but we will not focus on abstinence. She teaches moderation as well.
Can we have a show where all the folks form the Uk could call in? www.blogtalkradio.com/saferecovery. That might be really fun! :)
I really love this forum.
