The Daily Bitch 14th March 2012

Great topic yesterday humanspirit. I thought it was going to be met with a deafening silence - shows what I know...lol. The "faithful" surpassed themselves like rarely before. Clara, with her full 5 year experience, ended playing the "it didn't work for you" card. All us antis with combined AA experience in the 100s of years, just didn't understand. It seems to be a secret...lol

Marietta couldn't answer the question 4 months ago and gave a repeat performance yesterday. Did anyone notice how the venom output increases the more she feels cornered?

And Danny - poor Danny is still trying to work out what the question was...lol. You never know - we may hear something from him yet...lol.

Clara set a new record yesterday. It took her 30 posts to admit she didn't know what she was talking about when everyone could see she didn't from the first post...lol. 30's the record to beat...lol. AD currently holds the record as the poor sod who had to endure it all...lol.

Comments

Without wishing to take another's inventory 30 posts seem a little excessive. Maybe some kind of obsessive compulsive disorder! Dare I use the word addiction. Probably could do with getting some professional help or alternatively getting a life.

Would someone link to it? I'm not sure how to find my way around this site yet? Is there at UK section?

Sadly, I didn't write any 'great posts' yesterday (nor many other times!) - just suggested the topic of 'spot the principle in the 12 steps or big book' to Ben. By the time I got round to going online myself, the thread had got massively off-topic and been derailed (not unusual) so I didn't comment on it myself at all.

I saw the latest posts on the Weston Super Mare rehabs, though, which were very interesting. I'm going to to be away for about a week from tomorrow, but would definitely like to reurn to this topic when I get back. (We're taking a train to Berlin and spending some time there. I'm prepared to be dragged by my partner to listen to various obscure bands, as long as I get some time to chill out unter den Linden with a good book.)

The "topic" repudiates accommodation in its (parenthetical) premise. What's to discuss? First would need nailing down "principle".

I like rainbows

alkieanon's picture

Where there's two, peer for a third - expect it. I, myself, usually don't get quite so enthused; rainbows are a cerebral phenomenon. To wit:

Because of the physical properties of rainbows, everyone necessarily sees one's own personal rainbow. The angle of the sun relative to the position of the eye makes this so. Each individual sees a different rainbow.

When someone says basic AA entails no principles, analogous to rainbows, I wonder about the disclaimer's power of discernment. See; there it is!

I need make allowances for crippled vision, for stark unwillingness to look, for prosaic temperaments. Not to overpress the isomorphism, but this refusal seems more graceless and willful evasion than native purblindness; nay-saying by repudiation of obviousness. Don't you want to believe in rainbows?

Next you'll tell me the sky isn't blue.

That post concerns some trashy tv program that hs reviles but can't seem able to avert her gaze. Her previous post rhetorically asks about baring sexual history to random and lecherous AAers: unreal, but if such fantasies make her aghast and ecstatic, to each her own.

Should I seek the glow of the strawman burnt in effigy bonfire or hark the whoops of conquest by fools that claim victory where there is no contest?

100 years of unsuccessful experience, it would seem. You weren't happy there. You didn't get it! That's fine! Move on!

I don't care how often I post, folks. You shouldn't, either, because a hit is a hit! It's just going to work out that way when you are responding to what people say to you. If we were having a face to face conversation, it would have taken less than 15 minutes. But no one's counting but you! Dare I say OCD on the part of regulars?

Do you have a topic today other than AA works for some but not others?

Remember Christopher Stevens when you vote.

I know, I know, the usual AA apologetic answer is "they would have died anyway."

"Tradition 10 - Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the AA name ought never be drawn into public controversy." Please follow orders from the Interchurch Center if you are an AA member and don't comment.

Zacchaeus?

Yes Ben, it was nothing short of exhausting! I should not of had to work so hard to make my point. Sorry if it bored any of you! But it was important that the truth of the situation be clear. I believe Clara got it, to an extent. I just don't like when anyone tries to minimize other peoples experiences, I have heard enough of that in relation to AA/NA to last me a lifetime.

I feel the same way. AD, Ben, JR, Clara. All of you were in comments that I've made and I was trying to clear stuff up. I'm kind of rushed today too, so I wasn't trying to pin point anyone in particular as being out of line. They were examples.

Anti D. You are right. I've seen people comment that you weren't a member and why do you have an opinion? Others also. The same people have diss experiences of former members too so it makes no sense anyway.

You do not need to have been a member to have an opinion. You also have not needed to have been a member to experiences negativity from AA.

I've had some neighborhood issues too. It's not AA related but it's no fun getting affected by groups, either directly or indirectly.

Example:
Some groups have been breaking into cars around here. My car got it twice in a month and my husbands car got it once. Ours were completely ransacked and a mess. A few bucks in change was taken too. We were lucky it was not worse. OK, nothing drastic happened to us. At least not compared to the person that had their laptop and GPS taken. Does their losses make ours less threatening? Our private lives, possessions were still fucked with.

I think it's commendable that you and others that weren't personally in the program are seeing what we saw and are sticking around. We need people to understand! Again, thanks! :=)

Thanks AVO! It is silly for people to say you have to be part of AA to have a valuable opinion.

Did you not read btnben's sneer at Clara's "full 5 year experience"? Why are the rules of decorum and self-control, of decency and kindness, always applied solely to those whom you call the "trolls"? Don't even try to tell us it's because the non-troll members always behave themselves. That is utter bullshit.

I don't believe, AntiDenial, that I've ever seen you chase down any anti-AA poster who has been guilty of this offense. If it is wrong, it is wrong for all. If it is acceptable, it is acceptable for all.

I haven't seen a post from him in a while.

I noticed Orange was online yesterday. Ya think he did some housecleaning and got rid of him?

Btw. I've made a list of Danny alias':

Danny (II)
Trisha
Perplexity
Cuggles
Diablo
Quagmire

Are there any to add?

Calinda ??

No I'm not obsessed with trolls. For the most part it's not a big deal that I like to spend a lot of time on. Danny is an extreme, to say the list.

Clara,
FYI Calinda sent me a pm saying that she was friends with you and came to the OPF to back you up. Can you verify this with me? I don't know why "she" messaged me in particular. It was out of the blue. She came to your defense in the pm also.
I ask only because Danny is bad news and dangerous. If I'm right and Danny is also Calinda then either you are friends with Danny (I'd be surprised) or he's pretending that he knows/is friends with you. That's something that you should be aware of. And as I said, it's something that I'd like you to clarify. Thanks!

Ben, I think it was a great idea to make a new blog for every day to try and keep some organization here. I'm up for changing the name to something more positive though. Anyone else?

Maybe, instead of the daily "bitch" put the date and something like "Today in AA" or "Orange you glad you're not in AA?" or "On The Sidelines".

I just called it the Daily Bitch because we were in a major bitching session in a thread that was completely off topic. We were at the point where that particular thread had nearly 500 posts. Any of the original topic was lost in the BS (Yes, Clara wa involved...lol).

Feel free to set up and call it whatever everybody wants. The name is irrelevant - it's just a general dumping ground for today's off topic stuff. Any interesting topic that arises, I hope someone will put into a thread.

May interest you Avo - I was at a meeting today at the charity I do voluntary work for, and some interesting developments occurred...lol. First off, the offer of a room to run SMART meetings was forthcoming without even having to ask. So that's going ahead.

Second - and I didn't bring this up - there was a general discussion about what AA was and how it works. I think I mentioned that the people I deal with have part of the contract for the new homeless hostel here? Well, the bosses from the partners who run the hostel from day to day were there and were very interested in the dirt on AA...lol. The fact that a registered sex offender could become the sponsor of a woman with children in just a few months was received with shock...lol.

These other people wanted to get yet more people in on this and I've been asked to prepare a talk for several of the bosses from partner agencies. These are people like sheltered housing trusts etc. Date to be arranged, but I couldn't believe how little these people knew of the workings of AA.

Also, they couldn't believe that it had been going on for so long with no checks in place. The tide is sure turning.

Feel free to take over the daily thread thing - it only takes 10 seconds...lol. It suddenly dawned on me today talking to these people. Nothings going to happen wasting time with the trolls on here - better to get out there and start doing stuff. See what an inspiration you are Avo?...lol. I'm going to take a bit of a break from here. It's become a bit of a boring troll fest. I've got other fish to fry now too...lol. I'll pop in from time to time, but no more all-nighters...lol

God damn it, get me a whiskey

Wow Ben that is awesome news! It is nothing short of amazing how little people know about AA! I mean I was like most people who knew little of AA/NA until 2 years ago, I was shocked! I haven't stopped being shocked since. Bill W was really brilliant on some things. One setting AA up to be(try) absolved of all responsibility, and to keep things under the radar with the whole anonymity thing.

I am thrilled to see advocacy, it is really is satisfying Ben when you realize even what one person can do. It is just not a saying. One person can make a difference. With AA at least in the US we have laws on our side, they are just being ignored. Plus there needs to be a' standard of care' for meetings. It should be treated like healthcare with guidelines and protocol.

Haha, a "general dumping ground". It seems that some of the better names come without any thought at all, the examples of what usually occurs.

Ben, I was also shocked that there wasn't any regulation. Even after I was attending a while I wasn't fully aware. Putting the jigsaw pieces of my brain back together was needed first. That you were asked to put a presentation together shows that they are serious about getting the entire message. That's wonderful!Let us know how it goes. And thanks!

The daily bitch was perfect for you, Ben, because you are so far East. For those in Europe, the day is half over by the time I would be able to regular get on and put it up. You can log on, check in and say hi real quick and start our day. How bout it? :=)

I agree AVO- it was cute at first ( I guess) But it is a bit sexist for lack of a better word! Us women hear enough of it!
